About Me

Doula Lauren: Scarsdale, NY, United States; I am the second of four children. I was born in Massachusetts and grew up on Cape Cod. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts in 1976, I moved to New York City and in 1979 married Rich Cardinali. In 1982 I gave birth to twins (Andrea and David). The family moved to Westchester in late 1983 and in 1986 I had another son, Raymond. I became interested the fields of childbirth, labor support, and postpartum care while preparing for the challenging task of achieving her own vaginal delivery following a cesarean section. My career began with adult education workshops and continued in a backwards progression to childbirth education. From there, I advanced to Midwifery studies, Labor Support and finally to Postpartum work. For the past 20 years, I have been dedicated to helping mothers and families as they adjust to their new roles. Here are some tips for those early months at home with your newborn. Someday, your baby will be sleeping for four, five and more hours at a stretch but in the beginning, sleep deprivation for parents is fairly universal. Hopefully, I can help you through this confusing time and provide some ideas to help you enjoy your new family.

Many care providers advise or admonish that new mothers not drive a car for one to six weeks following the delivery of a baby. What is the real story? My baby is 2 weeks old and has a pediatric appointment. may I drive to the doctor?
